Description
The Chronicles of Milo is a collection of short stories set in the Caribbean territory of Tobago. It captures the voice, experiences and perspectives of a puppy that flees his home, after a misunderstanding, and ends up living as a happy stray. The tales explore Caribbean lifestyles and adventures. They also comment on global events and issues as they impact the small island.
There are twelve stories which follows the chronological order of events experienced such as natural disaster (The Day the Earth Shook, and Dorian) giving account of an actual earthquake in Trinidad and Tobago, and Hurricane Dorian which wreaked havoc in the Bahamas. Additionally, Corona Virus depicted concerns of the global pandemic, and George commented on the social upheavals associated with the murder of American, George Floyd.
The narrative is lively and engaging throughout with vivid reflections of growing up and developing in Tobago. Cuisine, language, cultural practices and behaviors enhance the reader’s experience as the stories are dramatic, with well-developed characters who use dialogue effectively. Characters, both human and animal (particularly dog) challenge one’s outlook on such universal themes as racism, courage, love, loyalty, and even the environment. This collection is both educational and humorous, and can entertain persons of various backgrounds, while giving children strong morals to learn from.

A Statement from the artist/author
There are two components of a great painting, the artist and the appreciation of good work by his/her audience.
Essentially, a good painting starts as a concept in the mind, here thought is put into subject, colour, perspective etc. the finished product bares pieces of the artists’ imagination, technical and creative ability. A great painting though, in addition to this, is permanently stained with the very essence of the artist and though originated in the mind remains a production of the heart. It carries with it, wherever it goes, his meaning, his reason for being, his passion and concerns of the day and remains almost untouchable, crossing every boundary, be it race, social status, gender or time. (Nazim Baksh Oct. 2011).
“Similarly, I believe that much of the same can be said for an author and his book.”
