Description
In The Scammer, Jordyn arrives at a prestigious historically Black university in Washington, DC ready for a fresh start. After years under overprotective parents, she is determined to focus on pre-law and build a life on her own terms.
That plan is shaken when her roommate’s older brother, Devonte, is released from prison and suddenly moves into their dorm suite. What begins as a temporary favour becomes something harder to escape, as Devonte settles in and starts inserting himself into the students’ lives.
Devonte is charismatic and intelligent, and he quickly attracts attention on campus, offering advice and pushing people to make “better choices.” Jordyn, however, senses something off beneath the charm. As Devonte’s influence grows and the boundaries in their shared space begin to blur, Jordyn’s unease turns into alarm.
When one of her roommates goes missing, Jordyn realises she cannot wait for someone else to step in. To uncover what is happening, she teams up with another student to follow the thread of lies, manipulation, and control tightening around them, before she becomes trapped at the centre of it herself.
